UChicago LSI Launches New Imagine Pathway for Executive Leaders

The University of Chicago Leadership & Society Initiative (LSI) is pleased to announce the new Imagine Pathway, a groundbreaking fellowship that will support distinguished leaders in exploring possibilities for their next chapter while remaining fully engaged in their existing roles and responsibilities.

Inspired by an outpouring of interest from current executives since the LSI fellowship launched eighteen months ago, the Imagine Pathway will enable accomplished individuals who are in full-time executive roles or with a portfolio of responsibilities to engage in LSI’s transformative leadership journey.

In the Imagine Pathway, senior leaders will discover a curated curriculum and expert guidance on how to envision meaningful next chapters of societal contribution and personal wellness. Through a year-long fellowship that includes quarterly four-day residential retreats, Fellows will prepare for next acts that align their passions and talents with opportunities to make a difference in the world.

Redefining Leadership in the Second Half of Life

“Our new Imagine Pathway reflects our commitment to redefine leadership in the second half of life,” said Diana Petty, Executive Director of the Leadership & Society Initiative. “By expanding the pathways into LSI, we will empower more leaders to embrace futures of societal contribution and enduring relationships.”

LSI now has two entry points into its transformative leadership journey. The new Imagine Pathway provides a focused experience for leaders who are still active in their primary careers and seeking to begin exploring what’s next. The existing pathway, which will now be called the Design Pathway, offers a holistic experience for leaders who are ready to fully immerse themselves in planning their next chapter.

“LSI’s first two years have surpassed our highest expectations, attracting exceptional Fellows and shaping impactful next chapters,” said Seth Green, Dean of the University of Chicago Graham School. “The new Imagine Pathway will be a game-changer in opening LSI’s transformative learning and leadership journey to busy executives who strive to envision their next chapter while continuing their current work.”

Symposium Offers Glimpse into new LSI Pathway

To celebrate the launch of its new pathway, LSI will host a day-long, invitation-only Symposium on April 24 at the David Rubenstein Forum in Chicago. The Symposium will offer a glimpse into LSI’s transformative learning journey through a series of lectures from eminent scholars, workshops with industry leaders, and small-group discussions.

The Imagine Pathway was developed in close collaboration with a steering committee of current executives who advised on how to tailor LSI’s curriculum for leaders still engaged in full-time, active careers. Dan Draper, CEO of S&P Dow Jones Indices, served on that committee, helping the Imagine Pathway to develop an approach that mixes rigor, depth, and flexibility.

“As an advisor, I’ve been impressed at how LSI empowers accomplished leaders to design and activate purposeful next chapters,” Draper said. “I’m thrilled that LSI’s new Imagine Pathway will open the door for more executive leaders to engage in this transformative journey.”
