Janet Froetscher
Janet Froetscher is an experienced business and not for profit leader. She brings deep change management and leadership expertise.
Ms. Froetscher serves on two public company boards: Cboe Global Markets (BATS: CBOE) and Independent Financial (NASDAQ: IBTX.) Janet is a Board member of the Cboe where she chairs the Risk Committee, is a member of the Compensation Committee and is the former chair of the Nominating and Governance Committee. She is also a Board member of Independent Financial (NASDAQ: IBTX) and member of the Audit Committee.
Ms. Froetscher also serves on two not for profit Boards. Janet is the Chair of the Board and Senior Advisor of The J.B. and M.K. Pritzker Family Foundation and Secretary and Board member of the ECD Global Alliance where she serves on every critical committee. She is also a member of the Chicago Network and Commercial Club of Chicago. For seven years until the fall of 2023, Janet served as the President and board member of The J.B. and M.K. Pritzker Family Foundation, a private foundation investing over $1 billion focused on creating significant impact in the Foundation’s priorities. Janet developed the strategy, hired the staff and drove implementation of the strategic initiatives of the Foundation with a focus on early childhood development, healthcare and civil and human rights.
Janet has led turnarounds of multiple global not for profit organizations. Ms. Froetscher is the former CEO of Special Olympics International, leading the organization in fulfilling the mission of full inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities. She led a global team with operations in more than 170 countries. Ms. Froetscher grew the reach of the organization to more than 5 million athletes, holding more than 94,000 competitions annually with more than one million coaches and volunteers.
From 2008 to 2013, Ms. Froetscher was the President and CEO of the National Safety Council (NSC), an organization whose mission is to save lives and prevent injuries. Under her leadership, NSC created a new strategy and implemented initiatives which saved over 10,000 lives and prevented over 1 million injuries by focusing on issues such as distracted and teen driving, opiod overdoses as well as workplace safety. From 2003 to 2008, Ms. Froetscher was CEO of the United Way of Metropolitan Chicago where she led the merger of 54 United Ways into a single entity, the largest merger of a not for profit in the country. She also served as COO of the Aspen Institute where she also led the leadership development business and the strategic planning effort. Prior to that she was Executive Director of the not for profit consulting arm of the Commercial Club of Chicago bringing business expertise to City of Chicago government and the Chicago Board of Education generating enormous improvements in service and reducing costs by hundreds of millions of dollars.
Ms. Froetscher holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia and an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management of Northwestern University both with high distinction. Janet resides in Colorado Springs, Colorado with her husband, Bob, and is the proud mother of two children in their thirties – Rob and Lynn.
