Anthony U. Martinez
Anthony U. Martinez has for years championed the educational advancement and economic development of US and global communities, including extensive involvement with Asian, Latino, and Native American communities such as the Navajo Nation.
Martinez has had an extensive career in higher education, teaching for 40 years at both undergraduate and graduate levels in Business Law, Strategic Management, Law and Ethics, Leadership, and Organizational Behavior.
Among his leadership roles outside of the military, Martinez served as an Assistant Provost and Assistant Vice President at Arizona State University, and Assistant Vice President, Office of the President, University of California Systemwide Offices. He has held roles and stints as Business Department Chair, Assistant Dean, and Graduate Dean for Business, Information Technology, and Engineering at private and for-profit universities.
Martinez is a non-practicing lawyer by training, earning his Juris Doctorate (J.D.) at the University of California, Berkeley Law. His combined MSW / JD degrees enabled him to train and become a Certified Professional Mediator in the State of Idaho. He has mediated approximately three hundred cases in small business conflict and child custody cases in both Idaho and the Superior Court for the City and County of San Francisco.
Martinez served on both active duty as an Assistant Professor of Military Science in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Army Reserves, Medical Service Corp. He is retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.
After his retirement from teaching in 2019, he got involved with The National Latino Farmers & Ranchers, a Washington, D.C. base 501 c (3) non-profit organization and has served on its Board of Directors since 2020 (August 2022 to the present as its President and Chair of the Board). Concurrently since 2020 he has been a contributing member of the Dineh (Navajo) Chamber of Commerce.
