Rita Carroll
Rita Huang Carroll is a seasoned financial services executive having served in the industry for over 27 years. Her career has spanned across the largest systemically important financial institutions (SIFIs) to super-regionals, regionals, and boutique commercial banks, serving in capacities as the chief operating officer, head of business, chief risk officer and advisory. Inherently aware of the boredom in the technical jargon of risk management and banking, Rita truly believes that good financial services simply means instilling trust in the most fundamental way possible. She is passionate about her vocation and distilling the concept of fairness and equity in financial services is more relevant than ever. Most importantly though, Rita values the deep connections and friendship that she has built over nearly a three decade career.
As an enthusiast of the performance and fine arts (though not able to call herself an artist), she was previously on the Board of Directors of the Barrington Children’s Choir, Barrington, IL for the 2021 to 2024 term.
Rita comes back to the University of Chicago as a boomerang student with deep affiliation with the university: a proud alumnus (A.B. in Economics, The College Class of 1997), spouse of an alumnus (The College Class of 1996), a parent of College Class of 2025, and finally a parent of an almost College Class of 2028. Alas, the youngest child refused to conform and decided that a peer institution in Baltimore, MD was a better fit!
Now empty-nesters, Rita and her husband, John Carroll, of 25 years reside in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. No kids at home (a son and daughter in college), no pets at home, but certainly many aspirations.
