Carl Rapp
Carl Rapp is an industrial executive with decades of experience in engineered motion systems. He currently serves as the President of the Power Systems Group at The Timken Company, a global leader in bearings and industrial motion products.
In his current role at Timken, Rapp leads a business group which serves defense, energy, and infrastructure markets, with a range of electro-mechanical products and services. The company’s commitment to service, technical leadership, and candid communication, has built a reputation for trust that distinguishes the group as an industry recognized leader.
Over his career, Rapp has held multiple senior leadership roles. He was President & CEO of Philadelphia Gear Corporation, prior to the company’s acquisition by Timken, and before that served as Senior Vice President at Strategic Distribution, Inc. Before joining Philadelphia Gear, he held General Management roles at Norton Company, and Carborundum Abrasives, both part of Societe Saint-Gobain. Rapp served in various expatriate management positions over a six-year period in Europe.
Rapp holds a bachelor’s degree in economics & history from Trinity College in Connecticut and a graduate degree from Boston University in International Relations. He has two grown daughters and is a first-generation American of Swedish descent.
Beyond his corporate responsibilities, Rapp serves as Executive Sponsor for Timken’s Veteran’s Employee Resource Group. He has also served on multiple academic and cultural institution boards and is currently active as a trustee at the Maine Maritime Museum and the Worcester Art Museum, demonstrating a commitment for community institutions that have historic preservation at the core of their mission.
